CHAPTER 324
(House Bill 296)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 122 (d)
of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Elections," subtitle "Voting Machines," to eliminate the re-
quirement that names of candidates in general elections in Balti-
more County appear on ballot labels in alphabetical listing
irrespective of party affiliation, and to subject ballot labels in
Baltimore County to the general State-wide requirement that the
names of all candidates of a political party shall appear in adjacent
rows or columns.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 122 (d) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Elections," subtitle "Voting Machines,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

122.

(d) The titles of offices may be arranged horizontally or vertically,
with the names of candidates for an office arranged longitudinally
under or transversely opposite the title of his office. In Baltimore
City the titles of offices shall be so arranged that (1) there shall
first appear those titles of offices for which the voters of the entire
State or of an entire congressional district may vote, (2) there shall
next appear the titles of offices in the General Assembly of Mary-
land, and (3) there shall next appear the titles of offices for which
the voters of Baltimore City may vote, including, but not limited to,
the offices of Sheriff, Register of Wills, State's Attorney, city sur-
veyor, judges of the Orphans' Court and clerks of the several courts
comprising the Supreme Bench of said city. [In a general election
in Baltimore County the names of all candidates nominated shall
appear in adjacent rows or columns containing generally the names
of candidates nominated listed alphabetically, under the office for
which nominated and irrespective of party affiliation.]

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1,1965.

(House Bill 298)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3 of
Article 64A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement
Volume), title "Merit System," and to repeal and re-enact, with
amendments, Section 30 (a) of Article 32A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1964 Supplement), title "Department of Law," sub-
title "Maryland Securities Act" providing that the position of
