ing Ten Thousand Three Hundred Dollars ($10,300)] determined
by them
for the above purposes on the assessable property of said
Caroline County. Before the County Commissioners shall be required
to pay the moneys levied for the purposes of this sub-title to the
respective fire companies, the said Commissioners shall have the
power to require the officers of said fire companies to appear before
them and show to the satisfaction of said Commissioners that any
sums of money paid by the said Commissioners to the said fire
companies under this sub-title have been properly expended for the
purposes set forth in this sub-title, and also that said respective
fire companies are active fire fighting organizations. In the event
any of the fire companies hereinabove mentioned cease to remain
active fire fighting organizations, or have not properly used the
moneys appropriated to them for the sole purposes set forth in this
sub-title, then the County Commissioners are authorized to pay to
the other volunteer fire companies mentioned in this sub-title, in
equal proportions, the unexpended moneys in the hands of the said
County Commissioners or to retain the same in the county treasury
for general county purposes in their discretion.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 28
(Senate Bill 89)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 238 of
Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Caroline County", subtitle "Foxes", amending the
local laws of Caroline County concerning foxes in order to clarify
and change the language thereof and to remove an inapplicable
reference to another county.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 238 of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County", sub-title "Foxes",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

238.

It shall not be lawful for any person to shoot, or shoot at, or in any
manner kill any fox in Caroline [and Carroll] County, except when
said fox is destroying poultry, [or killed by hounds in a hunt.]
livestock, or crops. Any person or persons violating the provisions
of this [Act] section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon
conviction, shall be fined, not less than twenty-five dollars and not
more than fifty dollars, for each and every offense.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
