(1957 Edition), title "Post Mortem Examiners," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

The said Commission is hereby authorized and directed to appoint
[four] five medical examiners, one to be known as chief medical
examiner, and the other [three] four as assistant medical examiners,
a toxicologist [and] , an assistant toxicologist, and a sexologist, and,
subject to the approval of the Board of Estimates of Baltimore City,
to fix their compensation which shall be paid by the Comptroller of
the State of Maryland out of that portion of the funds collected by
the Racing Commission allocated and paid to the several counties of
the State and Baltimore City. The chief medical examiner and the
assistant medical examiners shall be licensed doctors of medicine,
and shall have had at least two years post-graduate training in
pathology. The said Commission shall appoint, to such extent as
may be authorized by the Board of Estimates of Baltimore City, such
other professional or technical personnel, clerks and other employees
as may be necessary for the proper administration of the Depart-
ment and at such compensation as may be provided for by the said
Board of Estimates in the Ordinance of Estimates of Baltimore City.
Such other professional and technical personnel and the clerks and
employees shall be appointed in accordance with the provisions of
Sections 142 to 156, inclusive, of the Baltimore City Charter (1949
Edition), known as the merit system.
Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the Commis-
sion from employing the services of physicians on a contract basis
for part-time services as may be authorized by the Board of Estimates
of Baltimore City.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 250
(House Bill 349)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 66½ of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles," subtitle "Of-
fenses and Prosecutions" to be known as Section 319A and to
follow immediately after Section 319 of said Article, prohibiting
the soliciting of rides by pedestrians on an expressway or ap-
proaches thereof.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That one new section be and is hereby added to Article 66½ of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles,"
subtitle "Offenses and Prosecutions," said section to be known as
Section 319A, to follow immediately after Section 319 and to read as
follows:
