shall receive an allowance for traveling expenses of eight hundred
dollars ($800.00) per year. The judges of the Orphans' Court for
Queen Anne's County shall receive an allowance for traveling ex-
penses of $750.00 per year. [The judges of the Orphans' Court for
Howard County shall receive an allowance for traveling expenses of
four hundred and eighty dollars ($480.00) per year.] The judges
of the Orphans' Court for Somerset County shall receive an allowance
of ten dollars ($10.00) for mileage for every day's attendance upon
the sessions of said court.
(w) The FROM AND AFTER JANUARY 1, 1967, THE salary
of the judges of the Orphans' Court for Howard County shall be
twelve hundred dollars ($1200) per year, to be paid quarterly.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not be con-
strued to extend or apply to the salaries of the judges of the Orphans'
Court of Howard County for the terms existing on the effective date
of this Act but shall take effect commencing with the next term of
office. THE JUDGES OF THE ORPHANS' COURT FOR HOWARD
COUNTY SHALL RECEIVE AN ALLOWANCE FOR TRAVEL-
LING EXPENSES OF SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY-SIX DOL-
LARS ($656.) PER YEAR, UNTIL JANUARY 1, 1967.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 25 and
26 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Howard County (1957
Edition, being Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Howard County," subtitle "Circuit Court," sub-
heading "Court Stenographer," authorizing the Circuit Court for
Howard County to appoint additional court stenographers.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 25 and 26 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Howard
County (1957 Edition, being Article 14 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Howard County," subtitle "Circuit Court,"
subheading "Court Stenographer," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

The Circuit Court for Howard County shall appoint a competent
court stenographer and may, whenever in its opinion the circum-
stances justify it, appoint one or more additional court stenographers
on either a full or part-time basis. Said court stenographer or stenog-
raphers, who shall be [a] sworn officers of said Court, shall hold
[his or her] office at said Court's pleasure, and shall be entitled to
such salary, as said Court may, from time to time, prescribe, to be
