POSED OF ELEVEN (11) PERSONS, CHOSEN OR SPECIFIED
AS FOLLOWS: THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE OF MARY-
LAND; THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES OF
MARYLAND; THE DIRECTOR OF STATE PLANNING FOR
MARYLAND; THE STATE SENATOR FOR ANNE ARUNDEL
COUNTY; THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS; THE
COUNTY EXECUTIVE OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY; THE
SUPERINTENDENT OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL
ACADEMY AT ANNAPOLIS; AND FOUR PERSONS TO BE
APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR OF MARYLAND OF WHICH
ONE HE SHALL DESIGNATE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE COM-
MISSION.

(C) OF THOSE PERSONS APPOINTED BY THE GOVER-
NOR THEIR TERM SHALL BE FOR FOUR YEARS. HOWEVER,
OF THE MEMBERS FIRST APPOINTED, TWO SHALL BE
INITIALLY APPOINTED FOR TERMS OF TWO YEARS AND
TWO APPOINTED FOR TERMS OF FOUR YEARS. THERE-
AFTER ALL TERMS SHALL BE FOR FOUR YEARS. ANY
MEMBER MAY BE RE-APPOINTED TO ANOTHER TERM, BUT
NO MEMBER SHALL SERVE MORE THAN TWO CONSECU-
TIVE FOUR-YEAR TERMS. ALL TERMS SHALL INITIALLY
BEGIN ON JULY 1, 1965.

(d)   The Commission may have and provide such employees, staff,
assistants, consultants, office, and office facilities as may be pro-
vided in the State budget from time to time. Members of the Com-
mission shall receive no compensation for their services as such,
but they may be reimbursed for proper and necessary expenses
incurred in the discharge of their duties on the Commission.

(e)   The Commission may accept and may expend for any of its
purposes monies and funds received from any governmental or pri-
vate agency, organization, or foundation.

(f)   The Commission and its staff and consultants shall study and
consider possibilities for preserving and improving the City of
Annapolis as the capital city of Maryland, with particular emphasis
upon the place of and facilities for State buildings and State
agencies
and offices.
UPON THE PLACING OF THEIR FACILITIES FOR
STATE BUILDINGS, STATE AGENCIES AND OFFICES, AND
COUNTY AND CITY BUILDINGS.

(g)  As part of its studies and consideration, the Commission may

(1)  study the landmark resources of Annapolis AND AREAS ADJA-
CENT THERETO, including a general inventory of present land uses
for residential, commercial, business, and governmental purposes;

(2)  study the relationship between needs for governmental activities
and the resources and facilities of the community; (3) cooperate
with other State, local, or national agencies in developing plans for
the physical development of the City
AND AREAS ADJACENT
THERETO and in assuring adequate access to and transportation
facilities for the City
AND AREAS ADJACENT THERETO;
(4) make specific recommendations for such community needs
and projects as urban renewal, public and private housing, economic
development, industrial and commercial growth, arterial highways,
parking facilities, traffic control, space for public buildings, civic
auditorium, building codes, federal and state assistance programs,
and for such other community needs and projects as in the discretion
