194                               LAWS OF MARYLAND                       [CH. 186

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (c) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact,"
subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed and that new
Section 40 (c) be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof to stand
in the place of the section so repealed, and to read as follows:

40.

(c) Anne Arundel County-In Anne Arundel County, (1) the State's
Attorney's salary is twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) annually.

(2)  The State's Attorney may appoint a deputy State's Attorney
whose salary shall be as set by the County Council of Anne Arundel
County, but not less than eight thousand dollars ($8,000.00) annually.

(3)   The State's Attorney may appoint four assistant State's At-
torneys, each of whose salaries shall be as set by the County Council
of Anne Arundel County, but each of whose salaries shall not be less
than six thousand five hundred dollars ($6,500.00) annually, (h)
The State's Attorney may appoint one clerk whose salary shall be as
set by the County Council of Anne Arundel County, but not less than
five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) annually.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County Council of Anne
Arundel County is authorized and directed to pay out of the general
revenue funds of the County or out of any general fund surplus or
from the emergency fund, or any combination thereof such amounts
as are necessary to pay the salaries of the three additional assistant
State's Attorneys authorized by this Act as well as sufficient funds as
may be necessary to the proper administration of this Act prior to
the adoption of the next county budget.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of laws,
public general or public local, inconsistent with the provisions of
this Act, are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistency.

Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety, and having been passed by a
yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of the members elected
to each of the two houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

"Beer, Wine and Liquor Licenses"; to add new subsection 41
(b-5) to Article 2B of said Code and said title, subtitle "General
