to the Commission such facilities as may be appropriate for such
meetings.
The members of the Commission shall receive no compensation
for their services as such members; but the County Council is
hereby authorized and empowered to provide such clerical services
as may be necessary for recording the findings of the Commission
and the preparation of its report.
The Commission shall prepare its report and formulate its recom-
mendations concerning the subjects referred to it, and submit said
report to the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House,
the Senator from Montgomery County, the Chairman of the House
Delegation from Montgomery County, and the President of the
Montgomery County Council on or before the 15th day of December,
1965. The Chairman of the Commission shall convene the first
meeting of said Commission no later than June 15, 1965.
And be it further resolved, That the Governor of Maryland is
hereby requested to notify the several officers and organizations listed
hereinabove of this Joint Resolution requesting that they comply
with its provisions and designate the persons to serve as members
of the Commission established hereby.

House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor of Maryland to
appoint a commission to study the feasibility and desirability of
restoring historic St. Mary's City.
Whereas, The Sovereign States of Maryland and Virginia are
two of the original colonies; and
Whereas, The provincial capital of the State of Maryland was
situated initially in St. Mary's City; and
Whereas, The provincial capital of the State of Virginia was
situated originally in Williamsburg; and
Whereas, The original capital of the State of Virginia, namely,
Williamsburg, has been partially restored in its original state and
has become a center of great historical interest and tourist attraction;
and
Whereas, It would be of help to the economical development of
St. Mary's County and of historical value to the citizens of Maryland
and these United States to restore the first capital of Maryland,
namely, St. Mary's City; now, therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Governor
of Maryland be requested to appoint a commission to study the
feasibility and desirability of restoring St. Mary's City; and be it
