Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (k) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation
and Duties," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
37.
(k) The Sheriff of Garrett County shall receive an annual salary
of $2,000 and on and after January 1, 1959, an annual salary of $3,600
and such sum as may be set from time to time in the discretion of
the County Commissioners, for expenses. He shall appoint two
deputies, each of whom shall receive an annual salary of [$2,700]
Three Thousand Three Hundred Dollars ($3,300) and one of whom
shall act as warden of the jail. The Sheriff shall be allowed extra
car mileage and out-of-county mileage at the rate of ten cents per
mile. He shall be allowed one dollar per day for boarding each
prisoner committed to the county jail. He may appoint a cook for said
jail who shall receive a salary of $100 per month.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1965.

(House Bill 401)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (1)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Supple-
ment), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle
"State's Attorney," to increase the amount of expenses allowed for
the State's Attorney of Garrett County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (1) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact,"
subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, and to read as follows:
40.
(1) In Garrett County (1) the State's Attorney's salary is three
thousand dollars ($3,000).
(2) The State's Attorney's allowance for postage, office and trav-
eling expenses is [twelve hundred dollars ($1,200).] twenty-four
hundred dollars ($2,400).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1965.
