typewritten transcript of such notes; (4) to act as secretary to that
Judge of the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Maryland who is a resident of
Carroll County; (5) to act as librarian of the bar library of Carroll
County; and (6) generally to perform such stenographic and steno-
typic and secretarial work as the Court or any judge thereof may
require, or which may be prescribed by law. Before the court stenog-
rapher or stenographers shall be required to furnish a typewritten
transcript of his notes to any party to any proceeding, he shall be
entitled to demand of, and receive from, such party compensation
for preparing the transcript at such rate as the Court from time
to time may prescribe. This compensation shall be in addition to
the salary provided for in Section 30A.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

(House Bill 428)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 32 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County (1963 Edition,
being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Allegany County," subtitle "Circuit Court," subheading "Em-
ployees," making special provision for the compensation of the
bailiffs appointed and employed by the judges of the Circuit Court
for Allegany County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 32 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County
(1963 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Allegany County," subtitle "Circuit Court," sub-
heading "Employees," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
32.
The Judges of the Circuit Court for Allegany County are hereby
authorized and empowered to appoint and employ such messengers,
bailiffs, court criers, librarians, clerks and secretaries as they may
deem necessary for the proper conduct of the business of the Circuit
Court, and each person so employed (other than the bailiffs) shall re-
ceive such compensation as shall be prescribed by the County Com-
missioners after consultation with the Court, which shall be provided
for in the annual levy and paid as other salaries and expenses are paid
for the conduct of the business of said Circuit Court. The bailiffs
shall receive such compensation as from time to time may be estab-
lished in the discretion of the Judges of the Circuit Court of Allegany
County, not to exceed the sum of thirty-six hundred dollars ($3,600)
annually, to be provided for in the annual levy and paid as other
salaries and expenses are paid for the conduct of the business of the
Circuit Court. Such employees shall not be eligible for membership
in the County Classified Employees System and shall perform such
