account of this allowance shall be made at regular intervals by the
Board of County Commissioners upon the presentation of bills by the
State's Attorney.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to the State's Attorney in
office on the elective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act
shall take effect with the next term of office.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 155
(House Bill 412)

AN ACT to add new Sections 30A and 30B to Article 7 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Carroll County," sub-
title "Circuit Court," subheading "Court Stenographer," to follow
immediately after Section 30 thereof, providing for the appoint-
ment of court stenographers by the Circuit Court for Carroll
County and relating generally to the appointment, powers, duties,
and compensation of such court stenographers.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 30A and 30B be and they are hereby added to
Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Carroll
County," subtitle "Circuit Court," subheading "Court Stenographer,"
to follow immediately after Section 30 thereof, and to read as follows:

30 A.

The Circuit Court for Carroll County shall appoint a competent
court stenographer and whenever in its opinion the circumstances
justify may appoint one or more additional court stenographers on
either a full or part-time basis. The court stenographer or stenog-
raphers shall be sworn officers of the Court, shall hold office at the
Court's pleasure, and shall be entitled to such salary as the Court
from time to time may prescribe, to be levied annually by the County
Commissioners of Carroll County and to be paid in such installments
and at such times as the other County employees are paid. The Court
also from time to time, whenever deemed expedient, may appoint
special court reporters and prescribe their duties and compensation;
and the compensation so prescribed shall be paid by the County
Commissioners.

30B.

It shall be the duty of said court stenographer or stenographers
(1) to take full stenographic or stenotypic notes of all proceedings
and testimony in the Court; (2) to prepare and file a typewritten
transcript of such notes whenever so directed by the Court; (3) to
prepare and furnish to any party to any proceeding in the Court a
