6-1.

On or before the first day of [July] January, the owner of any dog,
six months old or over, shall apply either orally or in writing, to the
county treasurer of or to a justice of the peace of any district in the
county for a license for each such dog owned or kept by him. Such
application shall be accompanied by a fee of one dollar for each male
dog or each spayed female dog and a fee of two dollars for each un-
spayed female dog; provided, that a kennel license shall be issued for
fifteen dollars to persons owning or keeping not in excess of twenty-
five dogs and that a kennel license fee of twenty-five dollars shall be
charged persons keeping more than twenty-five dogs. The license or
fee shall be the only license or tax required for the ownership or keep-
ing of dogs. Such license shall be issued on a form prepared and sup-
plied by the county commissioners. Such license shall be dated,
numbered and shall contain a description of the dog licensed. All
licenses shall be void upon the first day of [July] January of the
following year.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That all dog licenses and kennel
licenses issued July 1, 1964 or thereafter and which except for this
Act would have expired on July 1, 1965, shall automatically be ex-
tended to and expire on January 1, 1966.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 154
(House Bill 411)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (e) of
Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Supplement),
title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's
Attorney," to increase the salary of the State's Attorney of Calvert
County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (e) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact,"
subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

40.

(e) In Calvert County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is [five
thousand dollars ($5,000)] seventy-five hundred ($7,500). From
time to time as may be deemed wise or necessary the judge of the
Circuit Court of Calvert County may appoint a temporary assistant
State's attorney for a particular case or series of cases and may fix
his compensation.

(2) The State's Attorney's allowance for office, traveling and other
expenses is two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500). Payments on
