AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, SECTION 302
(A) AND Section 302 (d) of Article 93 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Testamentary
Law," subtitle "Register of Wills," removing INCREASING the
statutory limit on the salary of the Register of Wills of Baltimore
City AND OF THE SEVERAL COUNTIES.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That SECTION 302 (A) AND Section 302 (d) of Article 93 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title
"Testamentary Law," subtitle "Register of Wills," be and it is THEY
ARE hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and to read
as follows:
302.
(A) THE REGISTER OF WILLS OF EACH COUNTY OF
THIS STATE SHALL BE ENTITLED TO RECEIVE ANNUALLY
A SALARY OF NOT LESS THAN $5,000.00 AND NOT MORE
THAN $17,000.00 TO BE FIXED AND DETERMINED IN EACH
INSTANCE BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR THIS
STATE. EACH REGISTER OF WILLS SHALL BE ENTITLED
TO THE SALARY FIXED AND NO MORE. IN FIXING THE
ANNUAL SALARY OF THE REGISTER OF WILLS OF EACH
COUNTY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS SHALL BE GUIDED
IN THE EXERCISE OF ITS DISCRETION IN REGARD
THERETO BY THE POPULATION OF SAID COUNTY DE-
TERMINED BY THE LAST OFFICIAL UNITED STATES
CENSUS, BY THE DOLLAR VOLUME OF TOTAL FEES AND
TAXES COLLECTED AND OF EXCESS FEES TURNED OVER

"that said inspector shall well and faithfully execute the said office
in all things appertaining thereto." The cost of said bond shall be
paid by the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County. The
inspectors for Anne Arundel County shall be known as the "liquor
inspectors for Anne Arundel County." There shall be a full-time
clerk to the board, at an annual salary of $4,800, and a full-time
assistant clerk at an annual salary of $3,800, and an attorney to
the board, at an annual salary of $3,000. THERE SHALL BE A
FULL TIME SECRETARY TO THE BOARD WHOSE ANNUAL
SALARY SHALL BE FIXED BY THE BOARD NOT EXCEED-
ING $6,360 NOR LESS THAN $5,500, AND A FULL TIME CLERK
TO THE BOARD AT AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $3,300, AND
AN ATTORNEY TO THE BOARD, AT AN ANNUAL SALARY
OF $3,000.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.
