ized so to do, the Director and the Governor shall not change the
language or provisions of this Code or of other statutory law of this
State.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1964.

(Senate Bill 18)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 564 and
567(c) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition), title "Health," subtitle "Hospitals," to change the name
of an organization of hospitals making recommendations of per-
sons to the Governor of Maryland for appointment to two advisory
boards of the State Health Department on hospital standards and
hospital construction.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 564 and 567(c) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Health," subtitle "Hospitals," be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
564.
An advisory board of seven (7) members, each of whom shall hold
office for a period of five (5) years, shall be appointed by the Gover-
nor to make recommendations to the State Board of Health and to
assist in the establishment of minimum standards under the pro-
visions of this subtitle and any amendments thereto. Three (3)
members of said advisory board shall be appointed from a list of
names submitted by the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Mary-
land. Four (4) members of said advisory board shall be appointed
from a list of names submitted by the [Maryland-District of Colum-
bia Hospital Association] Hospital Council of Maryland, Inc., of
which one (1) shall be superintendent of a Maryland hospital, one (1)
shall be a person who has been an owner or operator of a licensed
nursing home within the State of Maryland for a period of not less
than three years prior to the date of his appointment, one (1) shall
be a trustee of a Maryland hospital and at least one (1) of whom
shall be a member of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Mary-
land. At least four (4) members of the advisory board shall be
doctors of medicine and members of the Medical and Chirurgical
Faculty of Maryland. The members of the said advisory board who
are in office on June 1, 1954, shall continue for the balance of the
terms for which they were respectively appointed. When the first
vacancy on the said board occurs after June 1, 1954, involving a
membership which has theretofore been held by a superintendent of
a Maryland hospital, the Governor shall appoint as a member of the
board a person who has been an owner or operator of a licensed
nursing home as provided hereinabove; such appointment shall be
