AN ACT to repeal Chapter 413 of the Laws of Maryland of 1955,
repealing a proposed new Section 98A to the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County (1953 Edition), being Article 17
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince
George's County," subtitle "Bladensburg," said Chapter 413 being
repealed as obsolete and unnecessary.
Whereas, Chapter 413 of the Laws of Maryland of 1955 was en-
acted to specify the maximum amount of debt which the Town of
Bladensburg might incur, the Chapter being acted as an emergency
measure while there was under consideration the general home rule
legislation ultimately enacted as Chapter 423 of the Laws of Mary-
land of 1955; and
Whereas, the effectiveness of Chapter 413 of the Laws of 1955
was specifically conditioned upon approval by a majority of the voters
of the municipal corporation, pursuant to the requirements of Section
5 of Article HE of the Constitution of Maryland; and
Whereas, the enactment of Chapter 423 of the Laws of 1955 speci-
fying the general home rule powers of municipal corporations has
made unnecessary said Chapter 413, and the Town of Bladensburg
has advised the General Assembly that said Chapter 413 has not
and will not be submitted to a referendum and that it may be re-
pealed; and
Whereas, it is contemplated that there will be compiled a current
edition of the Public Local Laws of Prince George's County and in
that connection it is desirable to eliminate obsolete and ineffective
sections; now, therefore,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Chapter 413 of the Laws of Maryland of 1955, proposing to
add a new Section 98A to the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1953 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County,"
subtitle "Bladensburg," be and it is hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.
