unnecessary local laws of Allegany County, relating to the creation
of the La Vale fire area and to the operation of a special fire area
therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 148A to 148D, inclusive, of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Allegany County (1959 1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County",
sub-title "Fire Companies", sub-heading "La Vale Fire Area", AS
SAID SECTIONS WERE ADDED BY CHAPTER 249 OF THE
ACTS OF 1959, be and they are hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 460, 462, 463, 474, 475, 476, 477, 478,
483, 484, 488 and 489 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany
County (1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County", sub-title "Roads",
to enact a new Section 462 in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of
the Section 462 so repealed, and to repeal and re-enact, with amend-
ments, Sections 464, 470, 471, 472, 473 and 481 of said Article and
sub-title, generally revising the local laws of Allegany County with
respect to the construction, reconstruction, repair and maintenance
of roads therein, repealing obsolete laws on this subject, providing
for the power and duties of certain county officials and employees
with respect to roads therein, and relating generally to public roads
in Allegany County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 460, 462, 463, 474, 475, 476, 477, 478, 483, 484, 488
and 489 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County (1955
Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Allegany County", sub-title "Roads", be and they are
hereby repealed; and that a new Section 462 be and it is hereby en-
acted, to stand in the place of the Section 462 so repealed; and that
Sections 464, 470, 471, 472, 473 and 481 of said Article and sub-title
be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, all to read as follows:

462. The County Roads Department shall keep books showing in
detail the expenditures on each road in the County, including the cost
of all material and labor as separate items, which books shall be open
to the public.

On or before the 10th day of each month, the County Engineer or
Road Supervisor shall furnish to the County Commissioners an item-
ized statement of all expenditures made upon the roads and bridges
of the County during the preceding month, including cost of materials
and labor used on each road and shall certify as to the correctness
