Board of Examiners a fee of two dollars ($2.00) for each such
recordation. It shall be unlawful [after February 1, 1956] for any
person to practice nursing as a registered nurse unless his or her
certificate has been recorded as provided in this section; provided,
however, that the failure to record such certificate shall not be cause
for the revocation by [said] the Board of Examiners of such cer-
tificate. Anyone who shall fail to re-record his or her certificate as
provided by this section shall, notwithstanding such failure to record,
remain eligible for re-recordation at any time thereafter without
examination, upon application for re-recordation and payment of the
fees therefor.

303.

It shall be the duty of [said] the Board of Examiners to determine,
and [said Board] it is hereby empowered in its sound discretion to
determine, the qualifications of all applicants for registration as
licensed practical nurses; and each applicant shall furnish evidence
satisfactory to [said] the Board of Examiners that he or she is
eighteen (18) years of age, is of good moral character, [can read
and write the English language and has received a certificate from
an institution in which not less than a nine months' course of train-
ing with a systematic course of instruction is given to the satis-
faction of said Board of Examiners] has completed at least two
years of high school and has completed the required accredited
practical nursing education program as defined by the Board of
Examiners and holds a diploma or certificate therefrom. The Board
may in its sound discretion (a) continue to register as a licensed
practical nurse any person registered by the Board as such licensed
practical nurse on or before June 1, 1963 even though such person
may not possess the qualifications above set forth in this section,
and (b) register as a licensed practical nurse subsequent to June 1,
1963, any person who has enrolled in the required accredited prac-
tical nursing education program prior to June 1, 1963 and receives
a diploma or certificate therefrom, even though such person may
not possess the qualifications above set forth in this section.

304.

[The said Board of Examiners is hereby empowered and authorized
in its sound discretion to register as a licensed practical nurse
without examination any person who has had at least two (2) years'
experience in caring for the sick prior to the first day of February,
1922; provided such person shall furnish evidence satisfactory to
said Board of Examiners that he or she is eighteen (18) years of
age, is of good moral character and can read and write the English
language; and further provided such persons apply in writing to the
said Board on or before the thirty-first day of December, 1922, upon
payment of the registration fee.

And it] It shall be unlawful [after January 1st, 1923,] for any
person to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse without a
certificate from [said] the State Board of Examiners. A person who
has received his or her certificate according to the provisions of this
subtitle shall be styled and known as a "licensed practical nurse."
No other person shall assume such title, or assume the abbreviation
of "L. P. N.," or any other letters or figures to indicate that he or
she is a licensed practical nurse.
