the State treasury. [All money received in excess of the said
allowance and other expenses provided for, shall be held by the
treasurer for meeting the expenses of said Board and the cost of
annual reports to the Board.]

293.

It shall be the duty of [said] the Board of Examiners to determine
and [said Board] it is hereby empowered in its sound discretion to
determine, the qualification of all applicants for registration; and
each applicant shall furnish evidence satisfactory to [said] the Board
of Examiners that he or she is nineteen (19) years of age, is of good
moral character, has received the equivalent of a high school educa-
tion, and has [graduated from a training school connected with a
general hospital where three years of training with a systematic
course of instruction is given in the hospital, or has graduated from
a training school in connection with a hospital of good standing
supplying a systematic three years' training corresponding to the
above standards, which training may be obtained in two or more
hospitals; provided, however, that credit may be given by the said
Board of Examiners for not more than eight months of said above-
mentioned three years hospital training upon an applicant furnishing
evidence to said Board of Examiners that he or she has received a
scientific or practical education or training in some school, college,
public health or similar organization, which course is approved by
said Board of Examiners] completed the required accredited pro-
fessional nursing education program as defined by said Board of
Examiners and holds a diploma therefrom.

295.

[Said] The Board of Examiners shall have the power, in the
exercise of its sound discretion, to issue a certificate of registration,
without examination, to any applicant who has been duly registered
as a registered nurse under the laws of another state; provided
[said] the Board of Examiners shall determine that such applicant
possesses qualifications which are the equivalent to those required
under Section 293; and provided further that such applicant shall
file a written application for registration and pay the registration
fee provided for by Section 292 [; and that until June 1, 1917, said
Board of Examiners may issue certificates of registration, without
examination, to those nurses, who, on April 18, 1916, are registered
in other states and engaged in nursing in Maryland, upon written
application and the payment of the registration fee hereinbefore
provided, provided such applicants shall, in their application, present
credentials satisfactory to said Board of Examiners].

296.

Beginning in the month of January, 1956 and during the month of
January in every second year thereafter, every registered nurse,
registered with [said] the Board of Examiners, shall cause his or
her certificate to be recorded in the office of [said] the Board of
Examiners together with an affidavit or other proof satisfactory to
[said] the Board of Examiners of his or her identity as the person
to whom the same is issued and of his or her place of residence at
the time of such recordation. The registrant shall pay to [said] the
