from $6,000.00 to $7,500.00 per year, receiving one fifth of the differ-
ential at the end of each of the first five years of service;] as specified
in Standard Salary Grade XXIII as established by the Personnel and
Salary Advisory Board of Baltimore County, Maryland, from time to
time, including increments for time served and longevity specified
for such grade,
provided, however, that service of assessors as such
prior to June 30, [1961] 1963, shall be taken into consideration [for
such purposes] in determining the salary payable to each such as-
sessor
and provided further that the portion of said salary to be paid
by the State shall be limited to the amount provided in the schedule
set forth in Section 237 of this article.

(b) Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed
to levy and pay to each assessor's aide of Baltimore County a salary
[ranging from $5,000.00 to $5,500.00 per year, receiving one half of
the differential at the end of each of the first two years of service,]
as specified in Standard Salary Grade XVIII as established by the
Personnel and Salary Advisory Board of Baltimore County, Mary-
land, from time to time, including increments for time served and
longevity specified for such grade,
provided, however, that service
of assessors' aides as such prior to June 30, [1961] 1963, shall be
taken into consideration [for such purposes] in determining the sal-
ary payable to each such assessor's aide
and provided further that
the portion of said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to
file amount provided in the schedule set forth in Section 237 of this
article.

239. Same—Assistant supervisor of assessments.

The county executive of Baltimore County, Maryland, shall upon
recommendation of the supervisor of assessments designate one of
the county assessors as assistant supervisor of assessments and Balti-
more County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed to levy and
pay said assistant supervisor of assessments an annual salary [rang-
ing from $9,000.00 to $11,000.00,] as specified in Standard Salary
Grade XXXIV as established by the Personnel and Salary Advisory
Board of Baltimore County, Maryland, from time to time, including
increments for time served and longevity specified for such grade,
provided, however, that the portion of said salary to be paid by the
State shall be limited to the amount prescribed in the schedule [s of
assessor's salaries as] set forth in Section 237 of this article [.] , [A
person holding the position of assistant supervisor of assessments
shall cover the salary range between the minimum and maximum
figures in five years, receiving one fifth of the differential at the end
of each of the five years,] provided, however, that service prior to
June 1, [1961] 1963, shall be taken into consideration [for such pur-
pose,] in determining the salary payable to such assistant supervisor
of assessments.

240. Same—Supervisor of assessments.

Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed to
levy and pay to the supervisor of assessments of said county an an-
nual salary [ranging from $13,000.00 to $15,000.00,] as specified in
Standard Salary Grade XL as established by the Personnel and Salary
Advisory Board of Baltimore County, Maryland, from time to time,
including increments for time served and longevity specified for such
