grade, provided, however, that the portion of said salary to be. paid
by the State shall be limited to the amount as prescribed in the sched-
ules set forth in Section 236 of this article [. A person holding the
position of supervisor of assessments of Baltimore County shall cover
the salary range between the minimum and maximum figures in five
years receiving one fifth of the differential at the end of each of the
five years,] , provided, however, that service prior to June 1, [1961]
1963, shall be taken into consideration [for such purpose.] In deter-
mining the salary payable to such supervisor of assessments.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That a new Section 238A be
added to Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1962 Cumu-
lative Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "State De-
partment of Assessments and Taxation," to read as follows:

238A. SameField supervisor of assessments.

The supervisor of assessments of Baltimore County is hereby
authorized to designate one member of his staff as a field supervisor.
Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed to levy
and pay such field supervisor of assessments of Baltimore County a
salary as specified in Standard Salary Grade XXIX as established by
the Personnel and Salary Advisory Board of Baltimore County, Mary-
land, from time to time, including increments for time served and
longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that service of
such field supervisor of assessments prior to June 30, 1963, as field
supervisor of assessments, shall be taken into consideration in de-
termining the salary payable to him, and provided further that the
portion of said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to the
amount provided in Section 237 of this article.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That it is not intended that refer-
ence to Standard Salary Grades established by the Personnel and
Salary Advisory Board of Baltimore County, Maryland, should sub-
ject assessors, assessors' aides, the field supervisor, the assistant
supervisor of assessments, or the supervisor of assessments to the
jurisdiction of the Personnel and Salary Advisory Board of Balti-
more County, Maryland, but is merely for the purpose of establishing
the compensation payable to such employees.

Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1,1963.

CHAPTER 124
(House Bill 306)

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners of
Allegany County to contribute to the Board of Governors of the
Memorial Hospital of Cumberland, a body politic and corporate of
the State of Maryland, the sum of not exceeding Seven Hundred and
Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750,000.00), in order to help finance the
construction of alterations and improvements to said hospital; to
