chase of any such bonds or other obligations. Nothing contained in
this section with regard to legal investments shall be construed as
relieving any person of any duty of exercising reasonable care in
selecting securities.
11. Separability
If any provision of this sub-heading, or the application thereof to
any person or circumstances, is held invalid, the remainder of the sub-
heading and the application of such provision to persons or circum-
stances other than those as to which it is held invalid, shall not be
affected thereby. The powers conferred by this sub-heading shall be
in addition and supplemental to the powers conferred by any other
law.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1,1963.

AN ACT to repeal Section 282 (b) of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1962 Supplement), title "Public Education",
sub-title "Chapter 27. Free Scholarships", and to repeal and re-
enact, with amendments, Sections 264 and 268 of Article 77 of the
said Article and sub title of the Code, ANNOTATED CODE OF
MARYLAND (1962 SUPPLEMENT), TITLE "PUBLIC EDUCA-
CATION", SUBTITLE "CHAPTER 27. FREE SCHOLARSHIPS",
to change the manner of award of certain legislative scholarships
by the Senator from the Third Legislative District of Baltimore
City.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 282 (b) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1962 Supplement), title "Public Education", sub title "Chapter
27. Free Scholarships", be and it is hereby repealed; that Sections
THAT SECTIONS 264 and 268 of Article 77 of the said Article and
sub title of the Code ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1962
SUPPLEMENT), TITLE "PUBLIC EDUCATION", SUB-TITLE
"CHAPTER 27. FREE SCHOLARSHIPS", be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows
264.
One student from each senatorial district in the counties of this
State and two students from each senatorial district in the City of
Baltimore shall be educated free of charge for tuition at the Peabody
Institute of the City of Baltimore. No student shall hold any such
appointment for a period longer than four years. Each student re-
ceiving such an appointment shall give bond to the State of Mary-
land, in such amount and with such security as may be approved by
the president of the board of trustees of Peabody Institute of the
City of Baltimore, that he or she will teach in the public schools of
