tive date of adoption in the fourth district of a master zoning plan
for the fourth district, whichever date shall occur first. It is unlawful
for any person to possess, maintain or locate any trailer used and
occupied for a dwelling or sleeping purposes at any location in the
fourth district during the period of prohibition provided in this
section, except in a licensed trailer coach park,
AND EXCEPT ANY
OTHER TRAILER LICENSED TO BE IN THE FOURTH DIS-
TRICT PRIOR TO THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS SECTION
and violations are subject to the penalties of Section 2 hereof.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 901
(Senate Bill 546)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37 (b) of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1962 Supplement),
title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", PROVID-
ING FOR A PERSONAL EXPENSE ALLOWANCE AND fixing
the annual budget of the sheriff of Anne Arundel County at
$55,000 for salaries, providing that he may hire deputies and other
employees at salaries to be set by him and that the deputies shall
be furnished automobiles.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (b) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1962 Supplement), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation
and Duties", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

37. (b) The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall receive an
annual salary [to be fixed by the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County, but in no event to be less than $7,500.00] of $7,500
plus an expense allowance for his personal expenses incidental to his
duties of $2,500.
In addition to his salary, the Sheriff shall receive
[such sums for the necessary expenses of his office, including clerical
assistance, as shall be authorized by the County Commissioners of
said county.] $55,000 annually to be used for salaries of deputies
and any clerical assistance he deems necessary.

The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall be entitled to appoint
such number of deputies, [and at such compensation, as may be
authorized, by resolution of the County Commissioners of said
county; provided, however, the County Commissioners shall not, by
resolution or otherwise, authorize the Sheriff to appoint any deputies
or special officers not necessary for assisting the Sheriff in the per-
formance of the customary duties of his office, or whose compensa-
tion is not paid by the county.] not less than ten (10) however, and
any clerical assistance required by the duties of the office.
Nothing
herein, however, shall be construed to prevent the Sheriff, in case of
emergency, from temporarily deputizing any able-bodied citizen to
