Vehicles", sub-title "Operation of Vehicles Upon Highways", to fol-
low immediately after Section 187C thereof, and to read as follows:

187D. The County Commissioners of Cecil County by rule or
regulation may designate any of the roads and streets under their
jurisdiction as "truck routes" for use by trucks and other vehicles
of specified weight and/or size, and may exclude trucks and other
vehicles of specified weight and/or size from any other designated
county roads and streets. The commissioners shall, after adoption of
any such rules or regulations, cause to be placed and maintained in
conspicuous places along such roads and streets, signs describing the
provisions applicable thereto, and no such rules or regulations shall
become effective until such signs have been erected. The commis-
sioners may prescribe such penalties not to exceed a fine of $500 for
violation of any rules or regulations adopted pursuant to this section
as they deem appropriate.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 890
(Senate Bill 526)

AN ACT to add new Section 45E to Article 7 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll County",
sub-title "County Commissioners", to follow immediately after
Section 45D thereof, as added by Chapter 806 of the Acts of 1961,
authorizing the County Commissioners of Carroll County to adopt
and promulgate, amend, revise and change a building code, a
plumbing code and an electrical code.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 45E be and it is hereby added to Article 7 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Carroll
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to follow immediately
after Section 45D thereof, as added by Chapter 806 of the Acts of
1961, and to read as follows:

45E. The County Commissioners of Carroll County are author-
ized to adopt and to promulgate, and from time to time to amend,
revise, rescind or change, (1) a building code, to provide for the con-
struction, maintenance and repair of any and all buildings and struc-
tures located within the County; (2) a plumbing code, to provide
for the construction, maintenance and repair of pipes and all other
manner of fixtures and devices for the plumbing, water and sewerage
facilities in or about all buildings and structures located within the
County; and (3) an electrical code, to provide for the installation,
construction, maintenance and repair of all types of electrical equip-
ment, fixtures, appliances, and devices. In either instance, the County
Commissioners are authorized (1) to include provisions and require-
ments reasonably designed to secure and preserve the public health,
safety and convenience and (2) to provide for the appointment and
