General Fund Appropriation for Statewide spe-
cial services to nursing home patients and
for payments to Physicians, Dentists, Phar-
macists, Hospitals and Nurses, for Medical
Care to indigent and/or medically indigent
persons in the Counties and Baltimore City .... 5,385,853

All or part of this appropriation may be trans-
ferred to the State Department of Public Wel-
fare by approved budget amendment in order
for the State to be eligible to receive Federal
matching funds for medical care in the event
that the Board of Public Works deems such
action to be desirable; further, all or any
portion of this appropriation may be used for
such matching purposes; and in the event
such a transfer of this appropriation from the
State Department of Health to the State De-
partment of Public Welfare is made, the
Board of Public Works shall approve a plan
for continuing the programs of Medical Care
under the provisions of Article 43, Sections
42 and 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
1957 Edition. Of the total General Fund
appropriations for this program $2,675,844 is
for payment for regular .services for residents
of Baltimore City and $2,485,009 is for pay-
ment for regular services for residents of the
Counties and $225,000 $200,000 is for State-
wide special services to nursing home pa-
tients. This distribution of funds between the
program for Baltimore City and the program
for Counties and the program for Statewide
special services to nursing home patients may
be adjusted upon recommendation of the
Commissioner of Health and the approval of
the Governor.
