AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 15-1,
15-2, 15-4, 15-5, 15-6, 15-11, 15-12, 15-13, 15-16 and 15-17 of the
Anne Arundel County Code (1957 Edition), being Article 2 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel
County," subtitle "Chapter 15.", subheading "Plumbing," relating
to the Plumbing Commission and plumbing work in Anne Arundel
County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 15-1, 15-2, 15-4, 15-5, 15-6, 15-11, 15-12, 15-13, 15-16
and 15-17 of the Anne Arundel County Code (1957 Edition), being
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne
Arundel County," subtitle "Chapter 15.", subheading "Plumbing,"
be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
15-1.
There is hereby created and established a plumbing commission for
the county, to be composed of the [county health officer] chief sani-
tary engineer of the county health department, or such representative
of the county health department as may be appointed by the county
health officer, the chief engineer of the county sanitary commission,
or such representative as may be appointed by the county sanitary
commission and [a] three master plumbers to be appointed by the
county commissioners GOVERNOR, BY AND WITH THE AD-
VICE AND CONSENT OF THE SENATE, from [two] six names
submitted to the county commissioners by the county master plumb-
ers' association. The master plumbers to be appointed shall reside in
and be engaged in fulltime plumbing work in Anne Arundel County.
Three members of the plumbing commission shall constitute a quorum.
The term of the three members SO appointed by the county commis-
sioners shall be for [five] three years, after initial appointments of
one, two and three years, and [he] they shall continue to serve until
[his] their successors [is] are appointed and qualified. The members
of the plumbing commission shall respectively take and subscribe the
oath required by other state officers and shall have the power to elect
out of their number a president, secretary and treasurer, and to adopt
such rules and by-laws for the transaction of business of the plumbing
commission as they may deem expedient. The members of the plumb-
ing commission shall serve without compensation, but they shall be
allowed any reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of the
duties under this chapter. The secretary of the plumbing commis-
sion may receive such compensation as the commission may deem
just and reasonable, including compensation for secretarial assistance
