The said trial magistrate may direct the substitute trial magistrate
hereinafter referred to, to sit at such time and place as public con-
venience may necessitate. Neither the trial magistrate nor the sub-
stitute shall act as attorney in the trial of any cases before the
magistrate's court during their respective tenures in office.
The State's Attorney shall be available to attend trials before said
magistrate and to render such legal advice in criminal matters as the
said trial magistrate may request.

(d) In St. Mary's County, the clerk to the trial magistrate shall
be a person other than the substitute magistrate, who shall act as
clerk to the trial magistrate and to the substitute sitting in his place
and stead, and who shall perform such other duties as the trial magis-
trate may direct.

(l) In St. Mary's County, the office of substitute trial magistrate
shall receive an annual salary of $1,200.00 per year.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

(House Bill 384)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 255 (e) of
Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1962 Supplement),
title "Testamentary Law," subtitle "Orphan's Court," to increase
the expense allowance of the Judges of the Orphan's Court of
Somerset County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 255 (e) of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1962 Supplement), title "Testamentary Law," subtitle "Orphan's
Court," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
255.
(e) Each of the judges of the orphans' court for Carroll, Charles,
Queen Anne's, Somerset, and Worcester counties shall receive the
sum of eight dollars ($8.00) for every day's attendance upon the ses-
sions of said court. The judges of the orphans' court for Queen Anne's
and Worcester counties shall receive an allowance for traveling ex-
penses of four hundred and fifty dollars ($450.00) per year. The
judges of the Orphans' Court for Howard County shall receive an
allowance for traveling expenses of four hundred and eighty dollars
($480.00) per year. The judges of the Orphans' Court for Somerset
County shall receive an allowance of [six dollars ($6.00)] ten dollars
($10.00) for mileage for every day's attendance upon the sessions of
said court.
