be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

124.

(c) The custodian and deputy custodians shall make and sign a
certificate in writing, and request each party representative present
at the preparation of the machine to attest the same, which shall be
filed with the board of supervisors of elections, stating (1) the identi-
fying number or other designation of the voting machines; (2) that
each registering counter of the machine was set at zero (000);
(3) the number appearing on the exposed counter which registers
every consecutive operation of the machine; (4) the number on the
seal with which the machine has been sealed; (5) that the keys for
each machine have been sealed in separate envelopes identified by the
serial number of the voting machine; (6) the date and place of the
inspection and preparation of such machine and that the proper
ballot labels have been installed thereon. Each machine sealed as in
this section provided shall remain locked and sealed until the time of
examination immediately preceding the opening of the polls, as
hereinafter provided. In addition to the aforegoing requirements, in
Allegany County such certificate shall be executed in triplicate by the
custodian, deputy custodian and all members of the board of super-
visors of election present at the preparation of the machines
and such certificate shall be filed as a permanent record with the board
of supervisors of election.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 736
(House Bill 745)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 126 (e) of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Elections," subtitle "Voting Machines," relating to repairs to
voting machines in Allegany County and prohibiting repairs or
adjustments during the elections, unless made by a custodian or
his deputy and requiring that a statement containing all particu-
lars of such repairs be prepared, requiring that this be filed as a
permanent record.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 126 (e) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Elections," subtitle "Voting Machines,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

126.

(e) During an election, the door or other covering of the compart-
ment containing the counters of the machine, shall not be unlocked
