sand dollars ($3,000.00) in the aggregate, the total amount to be paid
to said library during that year under the provisions of this section,
and in addition to the amount to be paid as aforesaid, said County
Commissioners may, in their discretion, pay such sums over and
above the [two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00)] three
thousand dollars ($3,000.00) hereinabove provided for, as they con-
sider reasonable for the proper maintenance of said library. All sums
paid under the provisions of this section shall be expended under the
direction of the judge of the Circuit Court for Charles County who
resides in Charles County.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1963.

CHAPTER 663
(House Bill 499)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 51(t) of
Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County Treasurers,"
providing for an expense allowance (effective 1963) and for in-
creased compensation (effective 1966) for County Treasurer of
Kent County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 51 (t) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County
Treasurers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
51.
(t) The county treasurer of Kent County shall receive an annual
salary of $3,600.00. From and after June 1, 1963, and up to and in-
cluding December 31, 1965, the county treasurer of Kent County
shall receive $1,400.00 per annum for expenses which shall be
payable in equal monthly installments. From and after January 1,
1966, the county treasurer of Kent County shall receive an annual
salary of $5,000.00 which shall be his sole compensation for services
performed by him as county treasurer.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.
