1390                            LAWS OF MARYLAND                      [CH. 653

Park, the same being Chapter 827 of the Laws of 1961 being
Chapter 48 of the Montgomery County Code 1960 Edition (Article
16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland) and being Sec-
tions 1419 to 1415 1450, inclusive of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Prince George's County (1953 Edition), being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, said new subsection to be
designated 9 A to Article XII-A of said Charter, title "Takoma
Park," subtitle "Article XII-A Redevelopment-Urban Renewal,"
and to follow immediately after Section 9 thereof to authorize the
Mayor and council of Takoma Park, in connection with urban re-
newal projects, to create special taxing districts for the purpose of
financing the design, construction, establishment, extension, altera-
tion, operation or acquisition of public parking facilities and to
levy on all real and personal property subject to ordinary city
taxes located within said special taxing districts an ad valorem
tax for the purpose of financing the same, subject to certain re-
strictions and limitations.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
a new Section to the Charter of the City of Takoma Park, the same
being Chapter 827 of the Laws of 1961 being Chapter 48 of the
Montgomery County Code 1960 Edition (Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland) and being Sections 1419 to 1415 1450,
inclusive of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County
(1953 Edition) being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, said new subsection to be designated 9 A to Article
XII-A of said Charter, title "Takoma Park," subtitle "Article XII-A
Redevelopment-Urban Renewal," and to follow immediately after
Section 9 thereof, and to read as follows:

9A. Parking.

For the purpose of financing the design, construction, establish-
ment, extension, alteration, operation or acquisition of public park-
ing facilities in connection with an urban renewal project, the
municipality is authorized to create within its corporate limits
special taxing districts for such purposes and to levy on all real and
personal property subject to ordinary city taxes located within said
special taxing districts an ad valorem tax at a rate sufficient to pro-
vide adequate annual revenues to pay the principal and interest on
any bonds or other obligations of such municipality issued for such
purposes as the said principal and interest may become due. All such
taxes shall be levied in the same manner, upon the same assessments,
for the same period or periods and as of the same date or dates of
finality as are now or may hereafter be prescribed for ordinary city
taxes.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1963.
