in the peace of God and of the said Lord Propry then & there
being with force and Arms an Assault did make and the same
Thomas then and there did beat wound and evilly treat so that
of his life it was greatly dispaired and other harms to him
then and there did to the great Damage of the same Thoms.
and against the peace of the said Lord propry his Good
rule and Government &c            Francis
On the Back of the afd Indictment was indors'd as fol.
Vizt.            Billa Vera       JRinggold form.
And now here to wit at Kent County afd at the Court house
in the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday
of August being the fifteenth day of said month in the year
of Our Lord Seventeen hundred thrity & eight cometh
the afd Lord propry by Tench Francis his Attorney and
prayeth that the afd Francis Jones to the Indictment afd
might Answer
And the afd Francis Jones in his proper person comes
and defends the force and injury when &c And saith that
he cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against
him brought nor can he say but that he is guilty of the
premisses afd above upon him Imposed as by the afd
Indictment it is alledged and thereupon Submits to the
Court
Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at
Kent County afd at the Court house in the Town of Chester in
said County on the third tuesday of August being the fif:
:teenth day of said month in the year of Our Lord seventeen
hundred thirty & eight that the afd Francis Jones pay
the sum of five shillings Current money of Maryland as
a Fine for Committing the Assault afd Also it is Considd.
by the Justices afd at the time and place afd last mentd
that the afd Francis Jones pay the sum of eighty four
pounds of tobacco Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd
