Mr. Stirling reported a bill entitled, An act to authorize
the appointment, fix the tenure and salary, and ascertain the
duties of the Private Secretary of the Governor;

The Speaker presented a memorial from citizens of Balti-
more county, asking the construction of a road or highway to
commence at Newington avenue, near the Baltimore city lim-
its, to be extended from thence to the Pimlico church, and
from thence to some point of intersection with the Westmin-
ster Branch of the Northern Central Rail road in the Green
Spring Valley;

Which was referred to the committee on Roads and High-
ways.

Also, a memorial of Jas. S. Warfield against a grant of a
Road in Anne Arundel county ;

Which was referred to the committee on Roads and High-
ways.

Mr. Sterling presented the memorial of Bradley T. Johnson,
asking compensation for professional services rendered the
State by the appointment of the Governor;
