ing into its condition and exigencies.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Thruston offered the following order:

Ordered, That the committee on the Judiciary be, and they
are hereby instructed to enquire into the expediency of so
amending the act of eighteen hundred and fifty-six, chapter
one hundred and fifty-four, entitled, an act to simplify and
abridge the rules and forms of conveyances, as to revive, in
effect, the act of eighteen hundred and thirty-one, chapter
three hundred and four, entitled, an act relating to recording
deeds, and to provide that every deed of real estate shall take
effect from the time of recording. And the said committee are
also hereby instructed to enquire into the expediency of a gener-
al healing act to authorize the recording of, and make valid all
deeds of real estate affected by the said act of eighteen hundred
and fifty-six, chapter one hundred and fifty-four, which may not
have been recorded within six months from the date of their ac-
knowledgment, saving the rights of creditors and incumbran-
ces as provided by the said act of eighteen hundred and thirty-
one, chapter three hundred and four.

And the said committee may report by bill or otherwise.

Which was adopted.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following message:

By the Senate,

January 18th, 1858.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message, proposing a joint commit-
tee to visit and examine the Maryland State Lunatic Asylum,
and concur therein.

We have appointed Messrs. Wilkins, Franklin and Bradley
on the part of the Senate.

Secretary.

Mr. Stirling, from the committee on Ways and Means, re-
ported a bill entitled, an act authorising the redemption of
stamps issued under act of assembly passed March 10th, eigh-
teen hundred and forty-five, which have not been used and
are rendered useless by the repeal of said act;
