A bill entitled, an act to appoint an additional magistrate
in Election District No. 2, in Caroline county;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Caroline
county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act for the benefit of Alfred A. Duhamel,
late sheriff of Queen Anne's county;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Queen
Anne's county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act to make valid the acts of the com-
missioners of Queen Anne's county, for surveying and laying
out a ditch and assess owners, for cutting and draining the
Red Lion Branch in Queen Anne's county ;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Queen
Anne's delegation.

A bill entitled, an act for the dispatch of business in the
Superior Court and Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore
city;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on the Judiciary.

A bill entitled, an act to appoint and authorise certain per-
sons in Kent county, to purchase real estate in Kent county,
from Samuel E. Baker, of said county to be held in trust
for the Methodist Church on Kent Circuit for the purpose of
holding camp meetings or other meetings on the same, Sun-
day School festivals, &c.;

Which was read a first time, and referred to the committee
on Judiciary.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills :

A bill entitled, an act for the benefit of Josiah W. Pen-
ner, of Somerset county;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Som-
erset county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act to continue in force the act passed
at January session, 1852, chapter 216; also, the act passed
at January session, 1854, chapter 46, relative to the appoint-
ment of a commissioner to take testimony to perpetuate the
lost records in Dorchester county;

Which was read a first time, and referred to the Dorches-
ter county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act to authorise Zulma Marcillie to
bring certain slaves and negroes into this State;

Which was referred to the committee on Colored Popu-
lation.

A bill entitled, an act to refund to George B. Aiken, of
the city of Baltimore, a sum of money erroneously paid by
him into the Treasury;
