ment of a deed from Charles G. Ogden to James T. Hartley,
being dated on the 26th day of April, 1854, and to make valid
the recording of the same, as though it had been recorded ac-
cording to law;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act allowing the Junior Artillerists of
Baltimore city, to receive a limited number of honorary mem-
bers who shall be exempt from service as jurors ;

Being on its second reading,

Mr. Forrest proposed the following amendment:

"In section 1, 6th line, strike out "five," and insert "ten;"

Which was assented to.

The said bill as amended, was then read the second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading ;

The bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Baltimore city
Passenger Railroad Company ;
Being upon its second reading.

Mr. McPherson proposed the following amendment;

"In section 1, line 17, after the word "streets," insert
Baltimore street excepted."

Pending the consideration thereof;

The Speaker laid before the House the petition of sundry
Merchants of Baltimore city, doing business on Baltimore
street against the passage of the bill under consideration ;

Also, the petition of sundry property holders of Baltimore
in reference to the same subject;

Which were ordered to lie on the table ;

The question recurring on the amendment proposed by
Mr. McPherson;
It was assented to.

Mr. Neale moved to strike out the enacting clause of said
bill;

Determined in the negative.

Mr. Stirling proposed the following amendment:
"In section 2, line 5, after the word "Company," insert
"on giving public notice in at least two newspapers publish-
ed in Baltimore city, once a week for three successive weeks,
of the time and place of taking such subscriptions;"
Which was assented to.

Mr. McPherson proposed the following amendment:
