Mr. Alexander, from the committee on Judiciary, reported
favorably on the following bills:

The bill entitled, an act to authorise the Commissioner of
the Land Office to issue a patent to Robert May's, of Balti-
more county, for certain land in said county;

The bill entitled, an act to amend an act passed at De-
cember session, 1852, entitled an act to limit attachments in
cases where laid in the hands of employers;

The bill entitled, an act to make valid four leases from
Lot W. Ridgely to John Dunlap, an assignment of John Fry,
trustee to John Dunlap, and an assignment from Wm. Har-
vey, to John Dunlap;

The bill entitled; an act to reenact a law passed at Decem-
ber session, 1844, chapter 278, concerning the draining of
swamps and low grounds by the laying out and opening of
public ditches in Worcester, Queen Anne's, and Dorchester
counties, by extending the said act to the whole State;

The bill entitled, an act to provide for a State subscrip-
tion to Wingate's Maryland Register, for 1858 and 1859;

A bill entitled, an act to indemnify Joseph Sprigg, of Al-
legany county, for the loss of his negro man George, who was
murdered by a mob at Williamsport on the 23d day of June,
1853, through default of the civil authorities to preserve the
peace;

Which were severally read the first time.

Also, favorably on the following Senate bills:

A bill entitled, an act for removing cases of condemnation
of real and personal estate.

Mr. Clark, from a select committee, reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act to refund to Samuel T. Hopkins, clerk
of the Circuit Court for Talbot county, and to John Dorman,
late Register of Will for said county, certain sums of money,
erroneously paid into the Treasury;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Todd, from a select committee, reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act to authorise the Orphans' Court of Car-
oline county, to appoint a board of examiners for teachers of
primary schools in said county;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Allender, from a select committee, reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act to compel the Turnpike Company
therein referred to, to keep their roads in repair;

Which was read the first time.
