City Council of Baltimore, praying the passage of a law to au-
thorise the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to levy a
police tax;

Which was referred to the Baltimore city delegation.

Mr. Schnebly presented a petition from ninety-eight citizens
of Washington county, praying for an act to levy a tax upon
dogs, for the protection of sheep in Washington county,
Maryland;

Which was referred to the committee on Agriculture.

Mr. Thomas presented a petition from tanners and others,
citizens of Frederick county, praying the passage of an act,
authorizing the appointment of an additional Inspector of
Leather for said county;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Alexander presented a memorial from Jesse T. Peters,
T. N. Reid, and twenty-two others, property owners and
agents, protesting against the passage of a law taxing agents,
&c.;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county, offered the following order:

Ordered, That at each night session hereafter to be held,
the roll shall be called in regular order, and each member
present may, for himself, present to the House one bill for its
consideration or action;

Mr. Goldsborough moved to lay said order on the table,

Which was determined in the affirmative.

Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county, offered the following order:

Ordered, That the forty-sixth rule is hereby rescinded.

Mr. Alexander moved to lay said order on the table;

Which was determined in the affirmative.

Mr. Dail offered the following order:

Ordered, That the thanks of this House be and are hereby
tendered to the Rev, J. J. Graff, Rev. Mr. Veitch and the
Rev. Mr, Davenport, chaplains, for the faithful manner in
which they have discharged their duties, and that the com-
mittee on Claims be authorised to allow and pay each of them
the sum of one hundred dollars.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Mackubin offered the following order,

Ordered that it be entered on the Journal, that the absence
from his seat of Mr. Tongue, of Anne Arundel county, is
occasioned by the illness of a member of his family.
