Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, offered the following order :

Ordered, That John Bunting, one of the committee Clerks
of this House, be granted the privilege to accompany the com-
mittee on Inspections of the State Tobacco Warehouses in the
city of Baltimore, to assist them in their investigations;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, offered the following mes-
sage:

By the House of Delegates,

January 15th, 1858.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We respectfully propose, with the concurrence of your
Honorable body, to appoint a Joint committee, to consist of
three members from each House, to proceed to the city of Bal-
timore, and make a thorough investigation into the affairs
and condition of the Maryland Penitentiary, and that they
have full power to send for persons and papers, and examine
witnesses under oath, if necessary, and report to this General
Assembly, such legislation in reference thereto, as may be
necessary;

Which was agreed to.

Mr. Alexander, offered the following order :

Ordered, That the committee on Expiring Laws be instruct-
ed to bring in a bill reviving section 11th of the act entitled,
an Act for the dispatch of business in Baltimore County
Court, passed at December session, 1828, chapter 161, mak-
ing the same applicable to the Superior Court, and Court of
Common Pleas, of Baltimore city;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Harrington, offered the following order:

Ordered, That the reporters of the Baltimore American and
Sun, be each furnished with a copy of the Journals of the
House and of the printed bills;
