Bacon, Baker, Todd, Stirling, McPherson, Smith, of Balti-
more city, Kennard, Lynch, of Baltimore city, Harrington,
Crowley, Forrest, Alexander, Summers, Riddlemoser, Duvall,
Worthington, Thruston. Kilgour, McKinstry, Day, Welling
and Dorsey.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Meginnis presented a petition from J. W. Ireland and
forty-three other citizens of Kent and Queen Anne's counties,
against the purchase and making free the bridge over Chester
river, at Chestertown;

Which was referred to the Kent and Queen Anne's county
delegations.

Mr. Worthington presented a petition from L. T. Hyatt
and one hundred and six others, praying for the passage of a
law providing for the sale of free negroes and mulattoes, for
the payment of debts contracted by them;

Which was referred to the committee on Colored Popula-
tion.

Mr. Magruder presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Calvert county, for an act to make the Sheriff of said county,
the collector of taxes ;

Which was referred to the Calvert county delegation.

Mr. Stirling presented a memorial from William Watkins
and others, free colored people, praying an incorporation for
the Union Grand Lodge of Masons, and the recommendation
of sundry citizens of Baltimore, as to the character of the pe-
titioners accompanying the memorial;

Which was referred to the committee on Colored Popula-
tion;

Mr. Hanway offered the following order :

Ordered, That the Speaker appoint six additional members
to assist the committee on Engrossed Bills ;

Which was adopted,

And the Speaker appointed Messrs. Goldsborough, Spence,
Magruder, Moore, Sudler, of Somerset, and Tongue.
Mr. Kennard offered the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that Mr.
Richardson is absent by permission, in consequence of personal
illness;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, offered the following order.

Ordered, That this House meet this afternoon at 4 o'clock,
instead of 7½ o'clock ;
