The Speaker presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Baltimore county, for the increase of pay to criers and baliffs
of the Circuit Court of Baltimore county ;

The Speaker presented a petition from citizens of Baltimore
county in relation to the sale of the Chesapeake and Ohio
Canal;

Which was referred to the special committee already ap-
pointed on the subject.

Mr. Lynch of Baltimore city, offered the following order :
Ordered, That John Cathers, have leave to withdraw from
the files of this House two petitions presented by him asking
the passage of a law to enable him to practice his method of
treating cancer;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Landing presented a petition from A. J. Reese and
seventy-five other citizens of Kent county, protesting against
the passage of a law, making the bridge across Chester River
at Chestertown a free bridge by levying a tax on the citizens
of said county ;

Which was referred to the Kent county delegation.

The bill entitled, an act to regulate the inspection of tobacco
in the city of Baltimore, and to prescribe the duties of the
inspectors and for other purposes ;

Was taken up for consideration, said bill being upon its
second reading;
