one hundred dollars as compensation to Henry Hagan, of Alle-
gany county, for the arrest of Miller, who was executed at Cum-
berland, for the murder of Doct. Hadel and Mr. Graff;             
Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays:"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the committee
on Claims.

The Speaker laid before the House further testimony bearing
upon the depositions of John Hefferstein and James Schippers,
in reference to the vote between James W. Leggett and Charles
J. Nesbitt;

Which was referred to the committee on Elections.

Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, presented the petition of Mr.
Fuller, asking compensation for clerical services rendered the
State of Maryland, in the collection of Taxes in arrears;

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

The unfinished business of yesterday being in order, the House
took up for consideration the resolution offered by Mr. Lynch,
of Baltimore county, authorising the Adjutant General to grant
the use of forty muskets for the use of St. Timothy's Hall;

Mr. Lynch, moved to amend by striking out, "40" and insert-
ing "25;"

Which was determined in the affirmative.

The resolution as amended,

Was then read the second time.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following message:

By the Senate,

January 12th, 1858.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message proposing the appointment of
a Joint Committee of the two Houses to proceed to the Govern-
ment House and take an inventory of the furniture, and report
what repairs or additions are necessary, and also what amount
of money will be necessary to make said repairs or additions.

We have appointed Messrs. Clark and Hoffman, on the part
of the Senate.
