a bill, providing for the more speedy collection of debts of an
amount exceeding one hundred dollars by process of law in the
court of Common Pleas of Baltimore city, and in the Circuit
courts of the several counties of this State.
On motion of Mr. McPherson,
Leave was granted to the committee on Ways and Means, to
introduce a bill to provide for the redemption of stamps purchased
but not used, under the act passed March 10th, 1845, entitled
"An act imposing duties on promissory notes, bills of exchange,
specialities and other instruments of writing, to aid in paying the
debts of the State," which are rendered useless by repeal of said
act in 1856.
On motion of Mr. Neale,
Leave was granted to the St. Mary's county delegation, to in-
troduce a bill to authorise the citizens of St. Mary's county to take
or catch oysters with drags and scoops in the waters of the Poto-
mac, beyond the reach of tongs and rakes, as are now in use, and
authorised by law.
On motion of Mr. Thomas,
Leave was granted the Frederick county delegation; to intro-
duce a bill for the relief of the heirs of Frederick Stier, late of
Frederick county, deceased.
On motion of Mr. Goldsborough.
Leave was granted the delegations from Talbot, Dorchester and
Caroline counties, to introduce an act to amend the act of 1843,
chap. 142, entitled, "An act for the preservation of fish in the
waters of Talbot, Dorchester and Caroline counties."
On motion of Mr. Rohrer,
Leave was granted the Washington county delegation, to intro-
duce a bill entitled, An act, amendatory of an act, incorporating
the town of Sharpsburg, and Miller's addition to Sharpsburg, in
Washington county.
On motion of Mr. Rogers,
Leave was granted the committee on Judiciary to introduce a
bill to provide for a general registry law for the State of Mary-
land.
On motion of Mr. Rogers,
Leave was granted the committee on Corporations to intro-
duce a bill to incorporate the Washington Coal Company.
On motion of Mr. Stirling,
Leave was granted to the Baltimore city delegation to intro-
duce a bill to authorize the Mayor and Council of Baltimore to
issue certificates of debt to be denominated "Water Stock."
