512              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 23,

In section 1. They recommend the following amendment,
after the word ''vessels'' in 2nd line insert "of two hundred
tons burthen and over.?' In 6th line of same section strike out
the word south, and insert "south south-west," and the re-
jection of the amendment proposed by Mr. Grieves, appended
to the end of this section.

The section 2. They recommend the insertion of the fol-
lowing amendment after the word "vessels" in the 1st line "of
two hundred tons burthen and over," and the striking out
in the 3rd and 4th lines of the words "and not embraced in
the first section of this act.''

They also recommend the striking out of the 4th and 6th
sections of said bill.

All of which is respectfully submitted.

Which was read, and on motion said report was made the
special order of the day for Thursday next.

On motion of Mr. Wickes,

The rules were suspended, and he offered the following
order:

Ordered, That the House only entertain bills of a local
character on this evening, and that the order on page 452 of
the Journal, be enforced, and that all bills take a chronolo-
gical order;

Which was adopted.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the following bills :

A bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed to Nicholas V.
Browne;

Endorsed, " passed by yeas and nays, with proposed
amendments."

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED:

Add at the end of sixth line, section first, "Provided, That
nothing herein contained shall be construed to prejudice the
rights of any purchaser, for valuable consideration, or any
bona fide creditor, where interest or rights have accrued since
the execution and acknowledgment of said deed or indenture ;

At the end of fourth line, section second, add "subject to
the proviso in the preceding section contained ;

Which amendments were assented to, and the bill as amen-
ded, passed by yeas and nays, as follow:
