act to establish a uniform system of Public Education in the
State of Maryland;

Pending the second reading thereof;

On motion of Mr. Kilbourn,
The reading of said bill was suspended.
On motion of Mr. Magruder,

The House took up for consideration the Senate bill entitled,
an act for the establishment of a uniform system of Public
Education in the State of Maryland;

Mr. Duvall moved to strike out the first article of said bill;

Which was determined in the negative.

Mr. Neale moved that the bill under consideration be made
the special order of the day for Friday next;
Which was determined in the negative.

REPORT:

The committee to whom was referred the bill entitled, an
act supplementary to an act passed January session 1853, to
regulate pilotage, beg leave respectfully to report.

That they have had the matter under consideration and
taken under the order heretofore passed the following testi-
mony which is submitted for the action of this house.

The committee after having reflected upon the facts elicited
by said testimony, beg leave to suggest and recommend to the
favorable consideration the following amendments to said
supplemental act, being in their opinion best calculated to
subserve the various commercial pursuits embraced in this in-
vestigation.
