Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Hobbs presented a petition from Michael Zimmerman
and sixty other citizens of Frederick county, praying the pas-
sage of an act creating a new Election District out of parts of
Frederick, Woodsborough and Creagerstown Election Dis-
tricts in said county;

Which was referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. Hobbs presented a petition from William B. Tabler and
forty other citizens of Petersville district, Frederick county,
praying the passage of an act creating an additional Justice
of the Peace in said district and county ;

Which was referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. Mackubin presented a petition of eighty-one citizens of
Anne Arundel county, living on and near the waters of the
Patapsco River, praying the passage of a law to prohibit free
negroes from fishing and crabbing in said waters ;

Which was referred to the Baltimore city and Anne Arun-
del delegations.

Mr. Mackubin presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Anne Arundel County, residents of Primary School District,
No. 19, praying the division of said district, and the erection
of a new one;

Which was referred to the Anne Arundel county delega-
tion.

Mr. Mackubin presented a petition from citizens of Anne
Arundel county, opposed to the passage of a law, authorizing
the commissioners to levy a tax for the enlargement and re-
pair of the alms-house of said county ;

Which was referred to the Anne Arundel county delega-
tion.

Mr. Crowley presented a claim against the State of Mary-
land for cleaning Pratt street wharf, for $361 ;
Which was referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Stirling presented a petition from sixty-nine citizens
of Baltimore, for the repeal of the tax on mortgages ;

Which was referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Sudler, of Somerset, proposed the following resolution,
which was read:

Whereas, The pump sleeve and the hose belonging to the
State Engine, were injured at the burning of St. Anne's
Church; Therefore,

Be it Resolved, That the State Librarian be authorized to
have the fire engine and apparatus belonging to the State, put
in complete order and ready for use in case of fire.
