Which was read the first time, and referred to the com-
mittee on Currency.

Also returned the following bills :

A bill entitled, an act for the relief of the trustees of John
Thawley, former collector of taxes in Caroline county ;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays:" also,

The bill entitled, an act for the relief of the sureties of Ed-
ward S. Young, former State tax collector of Caroline
county.

Endorsed; "passed by yeas and nays."

Mr. Sudler, of Queen Anne's county, presented a petition
of Wm. A. Downs, M. Fountain, Ezekial T. Merrick and
seventeen others, asking the passage of a law to open and
clean out Long Marsh Ditch;

Also, presented the petition of Wm. Barnes and twenty-four
other citizens of Caroline and Queen Anne's counties for the
opening and cleaning out Long Marsh Ditch :

Which were severally referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Tongue presented the memorial of James Higgins ask-
ing to have refunded to him certain moneys expended by him
for the use of the State ;

Which was referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Stirling, from the committee on Ways and Means, re-
ported favorably on the bill entitled, an act for the relief of
George Finley, former collector of Queen Anne's county.

On motion of Mr. Sudler, of Queen Anne's, the rules were
suspended, and

Said bill was read the second time, and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Larrimore,

The rules were suspended, and the said bill was read the
third time, three-fourths concurring, and passed by yeas and
nays as follow:
