By the House of Delegates,

February 18, 1858.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body
to appoint a joint special committee, to be composed of five
members of this House and three of the Senate, who shall
have leave to sit after the adjournment of the two Houses, for
the purpose of inquiring into the fisheries and productions of
the Chesapeake Bay, and its tributaries, and of reporting to the
next General Assembly some suitable plan for the better re-
gulation of the same, and have appointed Messrs. Belt, Ford,
of Cecil, Sudler, of Somerset, Kennard and Landing, on the part
of this House.

Which was assented to and sent to the Senate ;
Mr. Alexander offered the following order:

Ordered, That the joint special committee heretofore ap-
pointed on the part of this House, to whom was referred the
report of Messrs. Scott and McCullough, codifiers, be increas-
ed to seven members ;

Which was adopted, and

The Speaker added Messrs. Hobbs and Thruston, to said
committee;

On motion of Mr. Kilgour,

Leave was granted the Special Committee appointed on the
subject, to introduce a bill entitled, an act concerning the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company ;

On motion of Mr. Bacon,

Leave was granted to the Harford county delegation, to in-
troduce a bill to provide for the appointment of an Inspector
of Lumber at Bell's Ferry or Lapidum, in Harford county ;

On motion of Mr. Wickes.,

Leave was granted to the committee on Judiciary, to intro-
duce a bill to confirm and make valid a deed from Clement
F. Jones and Josiah Massey and wife to Thomas F. Copper ;

On motion of Mr. Harrington,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Baltimore Division, No. 1,
Sons of Temperance;

On motion of Mr. Meginnis,
