Which was referred to the committe on Colored Population.

Mr. Mackubin presented a memorial of citizens of Anne
Arundel county, asking the passage of a law authorising the
commissioner of said county to levy a sum of money on the
taxable property of this county, for the addition to and repair
of the Almshouse;

Which was referred to the Anne Arundel county delega-
tion.

Mr. Hobbs presented a petition of John H. Pope, of Fre-
derick county, praying the passage of an act authorising a
compensation for certain important services rendered the

State;

Which was referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Bacon presented a petition from Archer H. Jarrett and
one hundred and fifty-two other citizens of Harford county,
opposing the passage of a law authorising the commissioners
of said county to locate and improve a public landing at Lapi-
dum on the Susquehanna River in said county ;

Which was referred to the Harford county delegation.

Mr. Davis presented a petition of John W. McCullough,
J. P. Vanneman and one hundred and fifteen other citizens
of Cecil county, against the passage of an act to prohibit the
drifting of gill nets in the head waters of the Chesapeake
Bay and its tributaries ;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Worthington presented a petition from James G.
Henning and twenty-three others of Montgomery county,
praying for the passage of a law for the protection of birds in
said county;

Which was referred to the Montgomery county delegation.

Mr. Belt presented a petition from William Harwood, late
State Librarian asking certain relief;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Kidd presented a petition from Lyttleton S. Cropper.
Charles H. Bigan and eighty-five other citizens of Cecil
county, in favor of an act establishing a system of Common
Schools in said county ;

Which was referred to the committee on Education.

Mr. Barnard presented a memorial of Wm. Price and others,
praying relief from claim of State against the Maryland Min-
ing Company, for taxes due for the years 1849, 1850, 1851
and 1852 ;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.
