January 12, 1858.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received your message proposing to appoint a joint
committee to examine the vouchers for the disbursement by the
Governor of the executive contingent fund, and the sum of four
thousand dollars, appropriated by the act of 1854, to repair and
furnish the Government House, and concur therein. We have

gentlemen named by your honorable body.

On motion of Mr. McPherson,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, hereafter
to be appointed, to introduce a bill to incorporate the President
and Directors of the Chesapeake Fire Insurance Company.

On motion of Mr. Rogers,

Ordered, That the President and Directors of the Annapolis
and Elk Ridge Railroad Company, report to this House, at as
early a day as practicable.

1st. The gross amount of receipts in each year from all sources
since the acceptance by the same company of the act of 1841,
chap. 168, up to the 1st of January instant, and the disbursements
during the same time, specifying the sources of said receipts and
the several accounts on which said disbursements were made.

2nd. The amount of net profits annually paid into the State
Treasury, under the said act.

3rd. What amount of bonds of the Company, was issued under
said act, and the amount of principal now due on the same.

Mr. Hobbs of the committee to wait on the Rev. Messrs. Veitch,
Davenport and Graff, reported that these gentlemen would com-
ply with the invitation of the House.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
