John E. Stalker and Richard Brashears ;

Which was read the first time.

On motion of Mr. Contee,

The further consideration of the order of the day was post-
poned until 2 o'clock;

The question then being upon the motion to make the
Green Spring Avenue bill the special order of the day for
Tuesday next;

It was determined in the affirmative.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills :—

A bill entitled, an act to amend the act entitled, an act for
clearing out Pocomoke river, in Worcester county, by means
of a lottery, passed at December session, 1840, chapter 215,
and to repeal the several supplements thereto,

Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays ;"
Which was read the first time, and referred to the Wor-
cester delegation; also,

The bill entitled, an act to provide for the compensation of
Henry May, of the city of Baltimore, for legal services render-
ed by him to the State, in the circuit court for Allegany and
Washington counties, in the years 1852 and 1853, at the re-
quest of the Governor;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays ;"             

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Claims.

Also delivered the following message :

By the Senate,

February 11th, 1858.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received the message of your honorable body, pro-
posing to refer the report of Messrs. Scott and McCullough,
codifiers, to a joint special committee of both Houses, and
concur therein. We have appointed, on the part of the Senate,
Messrs. McCullough, Wallace, Daniel, Brooke and Smith.
