On motion of Mr. Stonestreet,
The rules were suspended, and,
Leave was granted to the Charles county delegation, to in-
troduce a bill to authorise the Commissioners of the tax of
Charles county, to levy upon the assessable property of said
county a sum of money sufficient for the support of Ann E.
H. Ferrell, a lunatic pauper of said county either at the Mary-
land Hospital or Mount Hope Asylum at their discretion ;
Mr. Hobbs presented a petition from eighty-four citizens of
Carroll county, protesting against the passage of a law,
prohibiting the sale of intoxicating liquors within a circuit of
two miles of Mt. Airy, Carroll county ;
Which was referred to the Carroll county delegation.
Mr. Stirling, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to authorise the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore to cause a new assessment to be made of
the property in that city;
Which was read the first time.
A bill entitled, an act to simplify and regulate proceed-
ings in equity;
Being upon its second reading;
