The proceedings of yesterday were read ;
Mr. Wickes presented a petition from Wm. T. Miller, John
Frazier, Jr., C. J. Scott and one hundred other citizens of
Georgetown Cross Roads, and of the third election district
of Kent country, asking for a law to widen and straighten the
Roads, and make other improvements in said town ;
Which was referred to the Kent county delegation.
Mr. Dail presented a petition from Francis P. Phelps and
ninety-five other citizens of Dorchester country, praying for
additional legislation on the free negroes of said county ;
Which was referred to committee on Colored Population.
Mr. Dail presented a petition from sundry citizens of Dor-
chester county, for an act to authorise the hiring out free
negroes in said county ;
Which was referred to the committee on Colored Population.
Mr. Welling presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Howard county, against the repeal of the Patapsco Bank
charter ;
Which was referred to the committee on Corporations.
Mr. Burgess presented a petition from William B. Stone
and fifty-nine other citizens of of Charles county, in reference
to the fees of the Surveyor of said county;
Which was referred to the Charles county delegation.
Mr. Waller presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Somerset county, praying the passage of an act to allow Titus
White, free negro, to sail a vessel without a white man on
board;
Which was referred to the committee on Colored Population.
Mr. Sudler, of Queen Anne's county, presented a petition
from Charles Stevens, James Hopkins, and thirty-two other
citizens of Queen Anne's county, against making a free bridge
over Chester river, at Chestertown ;
